On my way home last night, the clock on my car turned 12:07 AM and it read 0:07. I thought it looked pretty cool, so I took a pic:

Natl. Database
In other news, somewhat related to my previous post, Delta is testing a new airport security plan. Of course, what better way to do it than create a National database?!
The system, ordered by Congress after the Sept. 11 attacks, will gather much more information on passengers than previously.
The nationwide computer system, which will check such things as credit reports and bank account activity and compare passenger names with those on government watch lists. Under the system, airlines will ask fliers more information than they do now: full name, address, phone number and date of birth. And people wonder why identify theft is so pervasive today! In the old days (before my time!), you either bartered or paid with cash. Your private information wasn’t stored in hundreds of different locations.Advocates say the system will weed out dangerous people while ensuring law-abiding citizens aren’t given unnecessary scrutiny.
Also, please answer how the law-abiding citizens won’t be given unnecessary scrutiny. Personally, I consider inquiries to my privatecredit reports and bank account activity unnecessary scrutiny!
Now if I can’t even get a banana republic card, imagine what’ll happen when I try to get on a plane!?
I don’t know what’s gotten into me today.
It’s All Good
Despite the long day I had today, many things happened to make me realize how good life is. the day consisted of a good 12 hours of straight work - so much so that my bum hurts tonight from sitting down so long. But in the end, I won some Blackhawk tics for this weekend and got a couple good phone calls. And ultimately, I felt as if I had accomplished a fairly good deal at work, which is what I set out to do this morning. Booyah!
Happy thoughts
“I Am Better Than Your Kids”
Some of you may find this rather offensive. If you’re scared, don’t click. It has offensive language. You’ve been fully warned. I am not responsible for the content in the next link, however….it’s pretty funny if you can appreciate sick humor such as this.
If you work in an office with lots of people, chances are that you work with a person who hangs pictures up that their kids have drawn. The pictures are always of some stupid flower or a tree with wheels. These pictures suck; I could draw pictures much better. In fact, I can spell, do math and run faster than your kids. So being that my skills are obviously superior to those of children, I’ve taken the liberty to judge art work done by other kids on the internet. I’ll be assigning a grade A through F for each piece
Hehe - it’s really quite amusing.
Banned Books in School
I stumbled over the picture below today (which you can click on for a bigger version) and it made me pause for a moment.
For approximately the past ten years, schools have continually reduced the book selection that is available in school. A certain gentlemen whom you may know always compared the US requirement to register all gun purchases to pre-WWII Nazi Germany where they, similarily, required all citizens to register their guns and then promptly took them away. If I recall, there were also spates of book burning. Now compare this to the restriction of books in American schools. Now I’m not saying that America is burning books, but just think for a second of the path that we are headed down. Gun registration, restriction of what children are given to read in school - but really, how many parents are going to introduce their children to books that the school doesn’t allow? Only those few rebels.
In contrast, I made a comment once about the the Swiss and firearms and how every Swiss male is actually required to own a gun. Whereas in America, owning a gun is hardly easy to do. Well…except for the criminals, of course.
It’s definitely not Nazi Germany, but we are slowly losing our rights and privacy. Is this a necessary cost to combat terrorism? I don’t know, but I sure hope not.
I forgot to add a couple other pics (click for bigger picture) that hit a chord:

Tonight’s Soccer Game
I ended up playing keeper at tonight’s (indoor) game as our normal keepers couldn’t make it. It wasn’t too bad - I haven’t played since high school, but I was able to keep at least a few out. ;)
Time for bed.
Google Ranking!
Wow, cool! I’m number five on Google for the search: venice pics. Not bad!

When Men Cook
Los Alamos Shabby Security
Apparently, some report recent snuck into Los Alamos National Laboratory. So much for that Homeland “Security”.
