Natl. Database

In other news, somewhat related to my previous post, Delta is testing a new airport security plan. Of course, what better way to do it than create a National database?!

The system, ordered by Congress after the Sept. 11 attacks, will gather much more information on passengers than previously.
The nationwide computer system, which will check such things as credit reports and bank account activity and compare passenger names with those on government watch lists. Under the system, airlines will ask fliers more information than they do now: full name, address, phone number and date of birth.

Advocates say the system will weed out dangerous people while ensuring law-abiding citizens aren’t given unnecessary scrutiny.

And people wonder why identify theft is so pervasive today! In the old days (before my time!), you either bartered or paid with cash. Your private information wasn’t stored in hundreds of different locations.

Also, please answer how the law-abiding citizens won’t be given unnecessary scrutiny. Personally, I consider inquiries to my privatecredit reports and bank account activity unnecessary scrutiny!

Now if I can’t even get a banana republic card, imagine what’ll happen when I try to get on a plane!?

I don’t know what’s gotten into me today.
