Initial Revision

Just a test entry to see if the new code is working. I think this will be much better than the last version. I have moved to a tableless design, am making the HTML code XHTML 1.0 compliant, and trying to give it a cleaner layout in general.

Thankfully a Judge Had Some

Thankfully, a judge had some common sense and threw out the lawsuit that blamed McDonald’s for obesity in children. Unfortunately the dillhole plaintiff will be re-filing in a month. GET A LIFE!

Ridiculous Comparisons

According to the tv commercial I just saw, Kotex wings are “more secure than an e-mail password”. Not only is this an absolutely horrible comparison, I can’t believe they are comparing wings to an email password. And that’s disregarding the fact that most email passwords are not secure. Anybody - when was the last time you changed your email password? Wait…do you even know your email password? That’s what I thought… ;-)

The Weather Sure Is Nice

The weather sure is nice down here in Alabama! When I was driving around Saturday morning back in Chicago, my car told me it was 1 degree F. Brrrr….landing in AL, though, the pilot said it was 59 degrees. Much more agreeable!

Programming

Sweet! I just finished a script that parses my Internet Explorer favorites into a MySQL query that inserts all the links into my database. I’ll write an interface for you to peruse the links at your leisure soon!

Yea, I know - I’m a dork.

Update: You can see a random selection of my links off to the left each time you reload the page.

As the World Turns Implodes

Why can’t people like this just shoot themselves?!

In other news, US citizens give up more of their rights:

TSA suggests that you help prevent the need to break your locks by keeping your bags unlocked (unless you are transporting a firearm).

If your bag is unlocked, then TSA will simply open the bag and screen the bag. However, if the bag is locked and TSA needs to open your bag, then locks may have to be broken.

I really don’t appreciate this. They went through my bag last week and left a nice little flyer telling me they had done so. So, not only can they open my bag at their will now, they are completely authorized to break the lock. In addition, they offer no guarantee whatsoever about missing contents.

Hehe, they also say this:

The new screening equipment will be out of your view and the screening of your checked baggage will occur behind the scenes.
This is not true! At O’Hare, the new screening machines are right out in the lobby and you actually have to bring your luggage over to them after you check in. Unfortunately, they keep contradicting themselves here. First they say there is no change, then they say that you will have to bring your baggage to the screening area. Perhaps I should quote the 4th amendment and attempt to use the Constitution out of context? Nah. That’s enough for now.

Donate Me a Mac

Would anybody be willing to donate one of these beauties. I really want an OS X machine, but of course…I don’t want to spend the money on it.

Why do I want one, do you ask? Well, I’ve been reading Jeremy’s blog a lot recently. He’s been using his TiBook for quite a while now and has actually mostly switched. Personally, I just want to try OSX for the heck of it, not to mention the cool things I’ve seen people do with it. I apparently can’t stop thinking about it, either.

But perhaps I should get back to work…

Sometimes Id Rather Enjoy My

| Comments

Sometimes, I’d rather enjoy my dreams than face reality. I’ve been remembering my dreams quite a bit recently. I don’t know why (maybe it’s the extra sleep I’ve been getting…) but I don’t mind at all. I had this weird one this morning.

I was cruising along in (what I thought was) my car, with the top down…in the middle of January. (Note: my car is not a convertible…) I was at a light when somebody else in a convertible passed me, then turned around and pulled up next to me. The woman in the passenger seat leaned over and said “enjoying the last nice of January, huh?”. She must have been refering to my top being down, which confused me since I didn’t realize the top that I don’t have was down. We then drove on, and all of a sudden I was on rollerblades and there was this line of about 15 Santa’s on the sidewalk. I passed them by and then reached my destination - Bubblitze…or something like that. A store that somebody had told me about.
It was around there that the dream ended. Not as cool as my middle earth one, but a dream nonetheless.
