Yes, I know I’ve been very lazy recently, but I have good reason to do so! Last week I was on vacation - the highlight: Cirque du Soleil! That was an amazing show. The acts they perform is beyond description, but it makes me want to run away to the circus.

Besides that, I’ve been tending to my poor finger. I’m on day 9 now. If you’ve looked at the pics, you’d probably like a description:

I fell while holding a glass, which then shattered. I cut off a sizable chunk of my index finger, so I headed to the ER to get it taken care of. Apparently, their idea of taking care of finger that won’t stop bleeding is to burn it shut! Because 10+ minutes of pressure didn’t stop the bleeding, they decided to use nitrate sticks to burn the wound shut. I know now that was not the smartest thing to do as it probably killed more tissue than the glass did. And you can see from the pics, it didn’t leave a pleasant result.
So my pop sent me some horse medicine and I’ve been tending to that the past week. It’s beginning to look somewhat better, but I’ve decided to see a specialist to confirm that and make sure I don’t lose a finger.

Dining Review: Kit Kat Club

| Comments

Thursday night (yes, I know, I am a lush) I went out for dinner at the Kit Kat Club, a local place where drag queens sashay down the middle of the restaurant every half hour or so lip-syncing to various tunes. Probably the best feature was the extensive martini list which covered two pages and had all varieties of tasty martini’s. I would recommend South of the Border, but you’ll have to hit up the club to find out what’s in it.

The dinner was pretty tasty as well. I decided to make it a theme night and had the meal called South of the Border as well. It was mahi mahi with some spicy cilantro sauce on it. It was quite good, but not nearly as entertaining as the busload of gay cowboy’s that dropped into the place around midnight!

Welcome to DCortesi.com 2.0

If this works, DCortesi.com will soon be running version 2.0 of my own personal blog software! It’s been a long time coming, but I really like the new look and I think the backend is pretty smooth as well. It’s only got base functionality right now, and that’s how it may stay - it just depends on how ambitious I get in the hours between 12am and 5am.

Update

Wow - I’ve been excessively lazy lately. However, I have been working…at client sites…for 20 hours straight now. And I still have some things to wrap up this morning. Sometimes working until you pass out can be a good thing, right?

By the way, the new site is almost ready to roll! I’m going to start posting there full time very soon now.

S!

S and I went up to the Kenosha outlets this weekend to buy me some slick city clothes. I’ve been horribly out of fashion ever since I moved to Chicago, but S helped straighten me up. (Yeah, it was sad. What can i say? I had to take pity on the poor boy.)

:-p There are tons of good stores up there though, Gap, Geoffery Beene, J Crew, and Brooke’s Brothers will probably contribute heavily to my wardrobe in the future. (Not to mention Ralph Lauren and Versaci ;)

Vegas Rocks!

Another crazy night in Vegas. Not nearly as crazy as last night, but I did take a helicopter ride over the strip. That was amazing. The pilot banked a few times, notably around the needle, the huge beacon shining into the sky from the luxor, and one other time. It was my first time on a helicopter and almost well worth the money I paid. Then it was out to PF Chang’s for dinner. I opted to not go out clubbing after that as I had already been to Ibisa the night before for a foam party, which I cam home from soaked, I might add. In any case, time to hit the sack for now.

DEFCON 0b

| Comments

So I just barely made it to Defcon. A combination of slow IT staff, a scuff on the rental car, and general Chicago traffic caused me to show up at the airport merely a half hour before I was supposed to leave. I thought it was going to be much closer, but apparently the sun was shining on us. Back to the con.

Hectic

Nice hectic week on my end. Drove to Bowling Green, OH and back the the past couple days, and tomorrow I fly to Vegas for DEFCON and from there I jump straight to ‘bama. Nothing like severe weather changes to make the luggage bulge. Looks like my travel is kicking up again.

I hit up Hot Import Nights last night. Craziest thing there was probably the VW Bus with the intense sound system. :)b
